The Dark Side of Indian Education System
"INDIAN EDUCATION FRAMEWORK NEEDS TO CHANGE COMPLETELY"
- Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam
Do you know the difference between a Debit Card and a Credit Card?
Do you know how to invest in mutual funds?
Of course, if you are financially independent you would know the answers to the above questions. However, if you ask a child studying in 10th or 12th standard in India then they won't be able to answer these. Even I do not know the answers and I'm in 10th. 🙆
Now if you observe closely, you will find that WE DO NOT need the latter to survive in this world. But WE DO NEED the information on how to invest in the share market and which card to use.
Now the question is why are we unaware of the things that we need for sure when we grow up? The answer is simple - Our education system focuses more on rote learning and ignores project-based learning. We are taught things that we do not even need in our life. I understand for those who will pursue these later in their careers but what about others? Not all students will opt for a job about finding the length of a tower if the angle of elevation is 30 degrees and it makes a 30 m shadow on the ground. Our education system ignores other potential careers and calls them "EXTRACURRICULARS". We are forced to study all these useless subjects that we are not even interested in for like 10 years 💀 And there aren't provisions for arts, music, sports, etc. in our everyday learning. They are only meant to study after the 10th; when we'll choose our stream and career. I know we need basic information about other subjects. But yes only basic! Addition, multiplication, subtraction, etc. would suffice. Learning how to find the zero of a polynomial is useless.
We should be taught about the things that will help us to survive and grow in this competitive world. Our textbooks should be renewed and chapters should be replaced by information regarding finances, money management, entrepreneurship, how to file income tax returns, how to choose our careers, how to define ourselves and believe in ourself disregarding the inferiority complex. We should be taught how to make decisions unassisted.
If you agree with what I think then share this post as much as you can because this is the only way we can create a difference. Every student of India wants a better education system but nobody is coming forward to take the responsibility. Not even a single soul wants to utilize their youth for the betterment of Indian society. And I'm one of them. Hoping that writing a post about this would suffice.
